Tributes

Chad was born on May 4, 1970 in Fresno, California to Levy and Katie Taylor. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on August 29, 2015 after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. He was 45 years of age. Chad was a 1988 graduate of Fowler High School. He enjoyed playing sports and was an accomplished football player. Upon his graduation, he went on to Fresno City College where once again, he excelled as a star athlete for the Fresno City Rams Football team. Chad obtained his Peace Officers Standard Training certificate from City College. In 2000, he became employed with the Fresno County Sheriff's Department. He was a dedicated deputy and was respected by all who knew him. He enjoyed working for the department and mostly enjoyed working in the courtroom of the Honorable Jane Cardoza. Chad had a zest for life. He always had a positive outlook on life including when he was diagnosed with cancer. Chad was an avid sports fan, most notably a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most importantly he enjoyed going to his daughter's basketball games to watch her play. He was a white hat official for the San Joaquin Valley referee league. Chad was on top of all his sport knowledge and when anyone had a question, he was there to respond with the correct facts and dates. Chad loved to dance, BBQ and just to be in good company. He will be remembered for giving everyone a nickname. The most important name he could've ever given someone was the name of "dear" which he bestowed upon his love, his wife Melissa. Together, they enjoyed spending time together, mostly at their favorite spots in Catalina or Pismo Beach. He is preceded in death by his father Levy Taylor and a sister, Sue. Chad is survived by his wife, Melissa Taylor; their children, Jacob Madrigal, Ashley Taylor and Breahna Shahan; his mother Katie Taylor; his siblings Hart Taylor and his wife Nancy, Lonnie Taylor and his wife Julia, Efrem Taylor and his wife Margaret and Ina Mae Taylor; and his father and mother in law, Joe and Diane Lopez. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and his coworkers at the Fresno County Sheriff's Department. Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A Life Tribute will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel.
