David Henry Horne passed away at the age of 70 on May 14, 2017 in Fresno, CA. David was born on August 6, 1946 in Trona, CA to Clarence and Lorraine Horne. David grew up in Trona with his older brother Bruce and his younger sister Beth. David played several sports during his school years and made many childhood friends, some whom he remained very close with his entire life. A few years after graduating from Trona High School, David married his high school sweetheart, Patty Jefford. David was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he and Patty had two sons, Aaron and Bryan but eventually divorced. David developed a passion for woodworking and began making beautiful burl wood tables, clocks, mirrors, and other artistic pieces which he sold throughout California during the 70’s. In the early 80’s, David moved to Kodiak, Alaska and began a short career as a commercial fisherman. He fished for king crab, king salmon, and other sea fare throughout the Bering Sea, from the Aleutian Islands up through the Bering Strait. David moved back to California in the early 90’s and returned to making artistic wooden furniture and décor while also becoming a grandpa. David was a proud father and an even prouder and loving grandfather. David cherished spending time with his grandkids. He loved to tell stories of his youth and of his time in Alaska. He loved to give advice and he stood firmly on his beliefs about being close with God and on various political issues. David was also an avid fan of professional and college football. Though he retired from woodworking in his late 60’s, David continued making artistic pieces as a hobby until his passing. David is survived by his sons; Aaron and his wife Robin, Bryan and his girlfriend Kimmie, five grandchildren; Tyler, Mayce, Ryan, Evan, and Hayden, his brother Bruce and his wife Glenda, his sister Beth and her husband Michael, four nephews and their families, several cousins and their families, and many lifelong friends. A Celebration of Life service and luncheon will be held in David’s honor on June 24, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Arabian Villa Mobile Home Park recreation hall located at 1500 Villa Avenue in Clovis, CA.
