Tributes

Alma Lee Cox was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on March 23, 1927. She passed away in Fresno on January 18, 2016 at the age of 88. Alma and her sisters, Opal and Ruth, were born to John and Mary Coursey. In 1943 Alma met the love of her life Raymond S. Cox and that would begin their 73 year marriage. Alma loved Raymond with all her heart. In 1944 God blessed them with the first of three beautiful children, Ronnie, then Gretchen and finally Randy. Alma was a very loving, caring and mighty woman of God. She had many friends, family and extended family. Alma was loved by all. In Alma’s younger years she played the guitar and sang in church. As time progressed and she was unable to sing and play so she developed a love for playing games on her smart phone. She loved playing Words with friends and Four Pics One Word. Alma never let a day pass without reading her Bible. Every night before bed, Alama prayed for all her family and friends. She would call all of them out by name children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and anyone that she felt needed prayer. One of Alma’s favorite songs was “Midnight Cry” by Michael English and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Alma attended Pentecostal Tabernacle in Kerman, California for over 20 years. She loved Brother and Sister Hill very much and all of her church family. Alma volunteered her time with as many church functions as possible and enjoyed doing so. Alma was very good at math, a fantastic cook, a great cleaner but overall a wonderful mother, grandmother aunt and friend! She will be missed dearly. We love you Mother, Sister, Grandma, Auntie and Friend. She is preceded in death by her parents John W. and Mary L. Coursey; sister Ruth Mathis. She is survived by her husband Raymond S. Cox of Kerman; sons Ronnie Cox and his wife Roxanne of Houston, Texas, Randy Cox of Kerman; daughter Gretchen Jones of Sonora; sister Opal Mazzei of Fresno; grandchildren Ron Cox, Sheri Cox, Russell Cox and his wife Tamara, Jennifer Barnett and her husband Blake, Ryan Cox and his wife Kelly, Rhianna Brumley and her husband Jimbo; great-grandchildren Jordan Walsh, Dylan Walsh, Bo Brumley, Bella Brumley, Travis Cox and Asher Cox; nieces Susan Wallingsford and Lynda Bennick; nephew Ricky Bennick; and of course Randy’s dog Cooper which Alma treasured. Funeral Services will be held at the Pentecostal Tabernacle, 14319 W. Kearney Boulevard, Kerman, CA 93630 on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Pentecostal Tabernacle, 14319 W. Kearney Boulevard, Kerman, CA 93630.
