Anne (Esperanza) Moreno was born on January 20, 1927 in Bakersfield, CA to Primitivo & Sofia Aguilar. She was second to the youngest of their 11 children and was a 1945 graduate of East Bakersfield High School. She stepped into eternity peacefully at home surrounded by her loving husband and devoted children. Anne was married to Alfred Moreno on December 16, 1950 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bakersfield, CA. They had eight children and lived in Bakersfield for 20 years before moving to Fresno, CA due to his job with the State of California, Dept. of Agriculture. In Bakersfield she was active in the Mothers Club for Our Lady of Guadalupe School and was president in 1961. In Fresno, she was an active member of The Catholic Daughters of America from Our Lady of Victory Church and held the offices of 2nd Vice Regent and Recording Secretary. She was a great cook and made the best turkey at Thanksgiving. She was an avid canasta player and always played to win whether she was playing Al or playing one of her grandsons. If you were a Moreno, you either had to learn to play or get out of the way! She loved her crossword puzzles and you could always find her with a puzzle, a pen and a cup of coffee. She was devoted to praying the rosary every day, to the Blessed Mother and to her Catholic faith. However, her major accomplishment was as wife and mother to her husband and 8 children: Sally Ann (Flint) Bonilla of Philadelphia, PA; Ron (Betty) Moreno; Linda Ramos; Kathy Garcia; Monica Belzman of Charlottesville, VA; Alfred Moreno Jr.; Steven Moreno and Stephanie Gill of Martinez, CA. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Anne, vieja, mama, mom, grandma, gram, grammy, granny will be deeply missed. There was not one moment in our lives she was not a part of whether happy or difficult. She was not only a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, she was also our friend and never hesitated in giving you her opinion. We will miss her lovely face, her laugh and sense of humor, her stories, how her face would light up when she saw you or the pleasure in her voice when she heard you on the phone. She ran her race well and when she crossed the finish line, she heard her Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant. . . Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matt. 25:23). Love you, mom!
