Arthur Avila at age 71 accepted the Lord’s invitation on November 9, 2023. He was surrounded at home by his loving wife Cheryl, daughters Angelica, Linda Lee, and his brother Mario & Diane as he took his last breath. Art was born in Little Field, Texas on October 12, 1952, to parents which precedes him in death, Guadalupe Avila and Lidia Avila (Acosta) and stepfather Raymundo Acosta, along with sister Patsy, son Dennis and niece Priscilla. He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Avila and daughters Angelica and Linda Lee; by son Dominic; his sisters Diana, Dalila, Sonia (little sister) and a brother Mario. Numerous nieces and nephews, plus a multitude of beloved family and friends. Arthur lived a remarkable life. After graduating in 1972 from East Union High in Manteca, he went on to accomplish all that he loved by learning how to play guitar (Greg, a cousin gave him lessons) and he continued teaching himself, as he formed three bands. After graduating he found a job at Sam’s Hof- Brau in Stockton, he was invited to test and apply at PG&E, he worked for PG&E in a few office locations and ended up working in the main office in San Francisco. He was promoted to Senior Transmission Coordinator, Gas System Operator, Operations Planning and Control (his business card read). Art loved to draw, and he taught himself how to play chess where he’d go to tournaments to play with well-known chest players. Another of his passions was playing pool with his closest friends Fernando and Cruz. Arthur enjoyed traveling with his wife Cheryl in and out of the states. He also enjoyed shopping and spending time with his grandchildren Charlie, Eli, Aria and Avianna. Arthur was a proud man, who loved strongly and honestly. He was always willing to give the shirt off his back. He always took care of his family in hard times financially. To his loving wife Cheryl the word NO was not in his vocabulary. A Funeral Service will take place at Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Garden of Freedom at Cherokee Memorial Park.
