Arthur Clarence Sallee Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

In Loving Memory of Art Sallee Art passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 and was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara in September, 2000. Art and Barbara were married in Hawaii in 1972 and spent 28 wonderful years together. Art was born in Fillmore, CA on June 16, 1929 and attended school in Fillmore from Kindergarten through High School. He worked in law enforcement for about 13 years before moving to Fresno in 1968 and was employed for 32 years by Federal Sign until his retirement at the beginning of 2000. Art was in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, assigned to the 385th MP Battalion and the 32nd MPCI unit in Stuttgart, Germany. Art was a volunteer member of the Fresno County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Mountaineering Team and a Forest Service volunteer for many years. He loved the Sierra's and spent many years in his jeep and hiking the trails. Art is survived by his son, Marc Riley and his children Kelli, Kerri, Melissa, Erin, and Caitlin; his son Joel Riley and wife, Carol Louise; his daughter Rhonda Whisenant and husband Billy; her children Nick and Brianne; his daughter Pamela Ross, her husband Kevin and their children Mitchell and Greggory; his daughter Nancy McDougal, her husband Ralph and their children Erin and Adam. Art wants his best friend, Trent Jaeckel, included with his family group which includes Trent's wife Julie and son Scott. Together Art and Trent shared many days together fishing, hunting, hiking and just being great friends. Another special friend, more like a brother, was Merle Peters who has passed away. Art and Merle go back many years and shared priceless memories in High School and as Police Officers together. Anyone who knew Art and Barbara also knew their family pets were a large part of their life and are included as family. Art’s latest rescues are two wonderful dogs Nellie and Riley. This would be the very best final tribute you could pay to Art. Art and Barbara enjoyed a second home in Dunsmuir, CA on the upper Sacramento River and spent many wonderful days there. Art will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara, at Mount Shasta Memorial Park. Mt Shasta, CA. A memorial service will be held at Northwest Church, Worship Center, 5415 N. West Ave. (West & Barstow) Fresno, CA, on Friday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m.
