Catrina Lynnette Cathcart was born October 27, 1966 in Los Angeles, California to Rosemary Johnson and Phillip Ray Cathcart, her parents were 16 and unmarried. She spent her childhood years being raised by her maternal grandparents Walter Johnson and Hattie Hicks Johnson, who provided an environment of unconditional love, in a house where Jesus was king. When Catrina was 11 her grandfather passed away, she and her grandmother moved to Fresno to live with her mom. Catrina attended Scandinavian Middle School and she graduated from Hoover High School. Catrina had several jobs but spent a number of years working at Gottschalks Department Store where she made many friends. On January 6, 1992 Catrina joined the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department as a Correctional Officer where she had a 26-year career and made many lifelong friends. She passed away January 7, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia. Catrina married Roger D. Mckinney in April 1994, the fruit of that marriage and the total joy of Catrina’s life was the birth of her twins on November 30, 1995, Alexa Joelle Mckinney and Cameron Walter Mckinney both weighing in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. Roger and Catrina divorced shortly before the twins were two, but Catrina spent her life adoring her beautiful twins. Catrina is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Rosemary J. Baltcha; her father Phillip R. Cathcart, her twins Alexa Joelle Mckinney and Cameron Walter Mckinney (girlfriend Monica Ouk), her granddaughter Nora Rose Mckinney, her sisters and their spouses Jennifer Michelle Parks and Terrell, Heidi Noel Betner and Nick, her nephews Ethan and Rowan Betner. Her brother Leonard Ray Cathcart and her step-father Retta Baltcha. She also leaves behind Greg Calvin her boyfriend of three years whom she love and adored and happily spent her last days with. In addition, she leaves behind a group of very close and very special friends, sisters, compadres as well as family members that are literally too numerous to name, but they know her heart, which was golden, and they know their own and they will always be united with her in spirit. Catrina’s a spirit soared all the time. She was kind, loving, thoughtful and would give you the shirt from her back if you wanted it. She was happy, full of laughter and fun – she loved to have a good time. She loved her family and always wanted them to have peace and happiness! Catrina will be missed by all who knew and loved her and she will be remembered for her smile, her kindness, her thoughtfulness and her love, which was very strong for those she cared about. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District, 808 4th Street, Clovis, CA 93612.
