The American Dream, so many hear of it, work for it, and dream of it. Movies and books tell the stories of people accomplishing this goal. The life of Daniel Alexis Uribe-Mendez defined that dream. Born in 1991, son of Rosendo Uribe and Rosa Mendez in Ameca, Jalisco. He had three brothers, Ricki, Hugo and Erik. Daniel, being the youngest, was full of dreams, he was motivated and determined to reach his goals. His family would tell you that Daniel, from a young age, was full of personality and love. He knew that he could achieve more if he were given a chance. At 17 Daniel arrived in the United States. An immigrant trying to pave his way. He did what he always did, went straight to work. Daniel was not afraid to get dirty and was a hard worker. If you needed something, Daniel would be the first to offer his hand to help. He was an inventor and a dreamer. Ask any of his co-workers, Daniel was highly regarded for his work ethic. Daniel had a knack for being able to fix anything. Whether he was familiar with an item or had never seen it before. If it could not be fixed, he would adapt and create a solution. In 2008 Daniel met Janet at a rodeo in Salinas Ca. Daniel loved to dance and so did she. Together they were the dancing duo. They would spend more and more time together and at more dances, creating memories and having the best of times. That early spark would later turn into a fiery love story that would last a lifetime. Janet came from a loving family, a big family, that welcomed Daniel with open arms. Two years later the two were married. Daniel began the necessary steps required to become a U.S citizen and in February 2014 Daniel was no longer an immigrant, but a U.S citizen that would continue to chase after his dreams. Daniel seized the opportunity of going to school to become a truck driver. Following in the footsteps of his father in law Ignacio Maciel, he too, began driving and soon after, had a truck of his own. For the last 5 years he has been a devoted cattle driver for Machado Livestock. Daniel and Janet had three children. His first, daughter Ilianna Isabella, who is now 8 years old is the apple of his eye. A daddy’s girl in every way. He was her hero, and she was his princess. First son, Josiah Alexis is 6 years old, and is the perfect combination of his parents. Josiah admired his Papi and loved being with him every chance he could. Finally, the baby, Mateo Daniel is 3 years old. A mini Daniel, he loved being outside with his daddy and has the exact same personality. Anyone who knows Daniel would tell you he loves to talk, and that Mateo sure does to. At the age of 27, Daniel purchased his first home, in Madera Ranchos, CA. A ranch that would remind him of his hometown in Ameca. A home that his children could grow up in, a home that would be full of love, laughter, and so many memories. He worked hard for his family, to make sure his kids would be given everything that they needed and wanted. Daniel and Janet were both incredibly involved with their families. They held gatherings at their home nearly every weekend. He was loved by Janet’s family as if he were their own. They would take family trips to Jalisco to visit his family during winters and summers. The family trips were their vacations that the kids would look forward to every year. Daniel took so much pride in sharing his upbringings with the kids. His family was so proud of him, they could not ask for more. Daniel was the life of the party, the best father, husband, son-in-law, son, and friend. Daniel would offer his help to anyone. He was the friend that everyone wanted. There wasn’t a single person that he would meet and not make a connection with. He made everyone laugh and feel important. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. On Monday, April 27, 2020 Daniel was driving a load of cattle in Arizona. His wife, Janet, rode in the passenger seat on this trip, without the children, to spend time together. They were approaching their destination, approximately 20 minutes away, when Daniel and Janet were involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Far away from home, and alone, Janet had to make the phone call no one ever wishes to make. Daniel was fatally wounded in the accident. To say, “the pain of the loss is unbearable”, would still undermine what the family and friends are going through. Janet is being cared for by family and friends, but the loss of her husband, the children’s father, his parent’s little boy, is a pain that no person would ever want to know. His boys are too young to understand the magnitude of this tragedy. His daughter is completely broken. Family and friends have been reaching out, recalling memories, shedding tears, and reliving good times spent with Daniel. The American Dream is something that can take years to accomplish, but Daniel achieved that dream before the age of 30. He was an inspiration to all, and proof that with hard work and sacrifice, anything is possible. He is a man who will never be forgotten, and his legacy will live on. Daniel was the sole provider for his family, and he worked so hard to make sure they were provided for. Her family will be doing everything they can to provide financial stability during this time. And out of our love for this family who was one of our own. We are creating this go fund me account for anyone who would be willing to help support his wife Janet and their three beautiful children. 100 percent of proceeds will be going to them directly.
