Dolores Maria (Orozco) Verdin of Biola, age 81, passed away at Clovis Community Medical Center, surrounded by her family on Friday, April 1, 2016. Dolores is the second of ten children. As a child she grew up in Fresno on the West Side, and attended mass at Saint Genevieve’s Church on Tulare Street. Later, moving to the Kerman area, she attended Kerman High School. Although married and raising nine adventurous and rambunctious children in Biola, Dolores still found time to actively engage in her community. She was a pillar in the community then and until her passing. She was very active at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kerman, singing in the church choir and teaching in the CCD religious education program. She also volunteered at Biola-Pershing Elementary School in the Mother’s Club and in the classroom as a teacher’s assistant. Whatever endeavors she undertook, she insisted on doing them well. She was a hardworking person. Dolores lived a simple and yet fulfilling life. She was the mother of 9 children: 8 sons and 1 daughter. She instilled the values of hard work, faith and honesty into her children. She always believed her story wouldn’t stop with her. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time and chatting with friends and family; she always wanted to know about your day. Missing her calling as a political pollster, she would often ask, “Who are you voting for?” She had a special way connecting and touching people, always seeing the good in everyone. She enjoyed shopping, especially for roosters, but most of all she enjoyed sharing her “finds” with many people. She was a giving person. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Toribio and Manuela Orozco, her younger brothers Jerry, Dennis, and Robert, her younger sister Connie, and her son Dennis. Dolores is survived by her husband, Ramon; her older sister Teri, younger sisters Sarah and Victoria; and younger brothers Henry and Ruben; her sons also survive her: Victor, Jerry, Jude, Bernie, Ramon, Gregory and, her youngest, Patrick; and her only daughter, Stephanie. Numerous grandchildren also survive her: Christine, Jessica, Natalie and her husband Chris, Cynthia, Andrew, Dennis, Daniel, Jeremy, Mark, Sarah, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Benjamin, Rene, and Alexis; 6 great grandchildren also survive her: Juliana, Manuel, Aaliyah, Emelina, Johnny, and Royce. Dolores enjoyed her golden years spending time with her grandchildren. Nothing would brighten her day more, even during those tough days, than when her grandchildren walked into her room. She was a fun-loving, engaged individual. Respected and loved by all. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kerman on Thursday, April 7, at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and immediately followed by the prayer of the Rosary.
