Eunice Mae Strasser passed away on November 13, 2022, at the age of 94. Eunice was born July 27th, 1928, to parents David and Blanche Spencer in Selma, CA. Her mother was lost to illness six months later, and soon afterward Eunice was adopted by Orbin and Nellie Brown of Selma, CA. During Eunice’s final year in high school her family moved to Santa Cruz, CA, and it was there that she met her future husband Ted MacDonell. They were married in 1948 and had two sons, Steven and Scott. Ted worked with the Redevelopment Agency and the family moved to Fresno when he was transferred in 1960. During this time, Eunice worked as an office assistant and key-punch operator for Fresno County and several local businesses and accounting firms. Ted and Eunice were divorced in 1968 and after that time, she met Robert Strasser. Robert and Eunice were married in 1972. Robert then started an awning and mobile home sales business and Eunice continued to work as a data processer for several firms, including Custom Computer until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Robert and Eunice enjoyed traveling and were able to visit much of the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. Even more frequent travel included RV trips to Baja California, annual vacations to Lake Tahoe with family and friends, and regular stays aboard their boat in Monterey Harbor. Eunice especially enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the casino slot machines, reading, Las Vegas and Tahoe entertainment shows, jogging and walking outdoors, the original Star Trek, piano jazz music, exercise classes, and hosting dinners and get-togethers with family and friends – all with a fun sense of humor. She always felt that one of her proudest achievements was a dinner party in her home that included her friends the Lechners, where she introduced her son Steve to their daughter Ilma. Steve and Ilma have just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Eunice was preceded in death by her adoptive and birth parents, her sister Maxine Tuttle, and her husband Robert, and her first husband Ted. She is survived by her son Steven MacDonell and his wife Ilma; son Scott MacDonell, grandson Ryan MacDonell, granddaughter Stephanie MacDonell and her husband Daniel Agüera Diaz, and niece Sharon Kendrick. The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Bristol Hospice and Sunny Garden Care Home for their wonderful care of Eunice. Eunice was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will always be in our hearts. A memorial gathering to honor her life will be planned at a future date.
