George Baeza was born on December 5, 1934, to Encarnacion Baeza and his wife Margarita (Rita) Murrieta in Los Banos, California. George’s family moved to Fresno in 1944 where he attended Columbia Elementary School as well as a local Catholic school. George married the love of his life, Rosemary, in the Spring of 1956 and they were together for 61 years before her passing. He worked for many years in Construction as a Union Laborer for Allied Paving and Gene Adams Paving before retiring at the age of 55. George enjoyed fishing in both the local lakes and in the ocean with his sons. He also enjoyed watching boxing and old movies on TV with his family and especially liked to watch his “ Raiders” play football. He was also very fond of going to Table Mountain Casino with his wife Rosemary and, after her passing, with his family. George also made it a point to feed his pigeons every day as he found it therapeutic to take care of them and watch them eat. His 4-legged companion Elvis is missing him tremendously but did go to a wonderful home. George always helped those in need regardless of how big or small. He has at one time or another, helped each of his children with building an extra room to their homes, putting on a new roof, repairing or even building a new motor for one of the many cars that needed it. No matter who called on him for a place to stay George always had an open door, without questions or judgement. He literally has a front seat in heaven. Survived by: Sandra Guy, Joseph Baeza, Linda Avila and spouse Martin Avila, Rudy Baeza and spouse Roxanne Baeza, Veronica Perez and spouse Rudy Perez, Robert Baeza and spouse Nina Baeza, Albert Baeza and spouse Trisha Baeza, Alfred Baeza and spouse Amelia Baeza, Surviving spouse of George Baeza Jr, Gina Baeza and Sister, Margie St. Louis. George is also survived by many, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death: Wife Rosemary Baeza, Son George Baeza Jr and Grandsons, Joseph A. Baeza Jr, Jeremy Baeza and Daughter n law Sofia (Sofie) Baeza. He is also preceded in death by his Parents, Sisters, Beulah Velasco, Bertha Savala, Mary Jessie Leon, Mercy Gonzalez and Brother Rudy Martinez. Visitations will begin on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Chapel of the Light, followed by the Funeral mass at St. Johns Cathedral at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately after the burial at The Baeza home, 4071 E. Liberty Ave, Fresno.
