In Loving Memory of Gloria Vera Barrera July 1, 1947 – July 31, 2026 Gloria Vera Barrera, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Visalia, California, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, faith, and kindness. Gloria was born on July 1, 1947, in Austin, Texas, to her parents, Celestino and Antonia Vera. She spent several years living in Devil’s Den before making Avenal, California, her home, where she spent the remainder of her life. Gloria was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for and loving her family. She was blessed with nine children: Bernice Meza, Lynne Vera, Israel Barrera III, Eloy Barrera, Sara Garcia, Hugo Barrera, Nicole Barrera, Keesha Barrera, and her beloved daughter Arlene Barrera. Gloria was married to Israel Barrera, who was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 2012. Their daughter, Arlene Barrera, also preceded her in death in November 2020. Gloria’s greatest blessing was her family. She was blessed with 48 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, leaving behind generations of family who will continue to carry her love and memory with them. Gloria was also preceded in death by her siblings Maryrose Sandoval, Celestino Vera Jr., and Cristela Gutierrez. She is survived by her sister, Carolina Vera, along with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and many loved ones. A woman of Catholic faith, Gloria carried her faith and love into her everyday life. She was known for being one of the sweetest, most generous, and giving people. Gloria had a heart that never asked for anything in return. She would give whatever she could to anyone, even to people she had never met. She never hesitated to help someone in need, and her kindness extended far beyond her own family. Gloria was the kind of person who always opened her doors. Her home was a place where people were welcomed, cared for, and made to feel like family. She did not need to know someone personally to offer them a meal, a helping hand, a place to stay, or simply a little love. Her generosity was a reflection of the beautiful heart she carried throughout her life. Gloria enjoyed playing bingo, but her greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to being there for the people she loved and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Her presence may no longer be with us, but the love she gave will remain. Her kindness will be remembered by those she helped, her doors will be remembered by those she welcomed, and her love will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind. Gloria was deeply loved, will be forever missed, and will never be forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace. 🕊️
