Jaime "Jimmy" Monsod Reyes was born on January 4, 1940 in Las Piñas, Philippines and went with the Lord on September 1, 2025 in Fresno, California. Jimmy is the second child of Edmundo Reyes Sr. and Natividad Monsod. In Manila, Philippines, he studied at St. Joseph Academy and later graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology. He served as a civil engineer in Makati, San Juan, and in Paranaque in Metro Manila, where he worked closely with then-future Philippine President Joseph Estrada. He was proud of his career in civil engineering and he retired in 2002. When Martial Law was declared due to political uprisings in the Philippines, Jimmy hoped for a better life and left for the United States in June 1975. Once in California, he lived with his brother, Warfredo, on his ranch. Together they enjoyed the Filipino-American social scene, where Jimmy met his future wife, Linda Realon. Jimmy and Linda Reyes were married for over 47 years. They had a civil marriage on December 18, 1977 and a church wedding on June 11, 1978 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fresno, California. They have four intelligent, respectful, professional, and beautiful children, Katherine, Jamie, Angelica, and James. An avid member of the Fresno community, Jimmy was active with the Filipino-American Association, Knights of Columbus, and he was a past Worshipful Master of the Legionarios Del Trabajo. He was a devoted Catholic, loved gardening, dancing, music, Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys, dressing in Ralph Lauren, driving his Corvette, and his favorite color was blue. Jimmy's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of his loved ones — one that time may soften, but can never truly be filled. He was humble, loving, kind, helpful, smart, caring, dedicated, and very supportive of his family and friends. The family will forever cherish the faith, guidance, and discipline their father instilled in them — gifts that have shaped their lives and will continue to guide them in his absence. He is survived by Dr. Linda Realon Reyes of Fresno, CA, Katherine Marie of Hayward, CA, Jamie Lynn of San Francisco, CA, Angelica/Nicholas Sr./Nicholas Jr. of Fresno, CA, James Brian of Chicago, IL, Evangelina R. Manalansang of Las Piñas, Philippines, William Reyes of San Bruno, CA, Edwin Reyes of Batangas, Philippines, Allen Reyes of South San Francisco, CA, Maria Renellen Leaño Reyes of Oakley, CA, Raymond Leaño Reyes of London, UK, Rommel Leaño Reyes of San Francisco, CA, and their families. Jimmy was preceded in death by Edmundo Reyes Sr., Natividad Reyes, Marcella Fernandez, Zenaida Bonifacio, Warfredo Reyes, Edmundo Reyes Jr., and Maria Rosana Leaño Reyes Bonifacio. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to their close friends and entire Reyes and Realon families for their support, prayers, and efforts to visit Jimmy in his last days. On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Chapel of the Light will host the Visitation at 5:30pm-6:30pm and Rosary at 6:30pm, followed by eulogies and reception until 9:00pm (1620 W. Belmont Ave., Fresno, CA 93728) On Friday, September 19, 2025, a funeral Mass will be held at 10:00-11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno, CA 93704) to be celebrated by Father Reggie Quijano. The interment will take place immediately following the conclusion of Mass at St. Peter's Cemetery (264 N. Blythe Ave., Fresno, CA 93706).
