Today, we gather to honor and remember a remarkable man—Larry Garrison. A loving husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather. Larry lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family, and his presence left an imprint on generations. Larry was, above all else, a family man. He loved deeply and consistently, showing his care not just through words, but through his actions—by showing up, by listening, and by always being there when he was needed most. As a husband, he was steady and devoted. As a father, he was a guiding force. And as a grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a source of warmth, stories, and unconditional love. Larry had a way about him that made people feel instantly comfortable. He was easy-going, approachable, and could strike up a conversation with anyone—whether a lifelong friend or a complete stranger. It didn’t matter where you came from or what your background was; Larry had a genuine interest in people and a natural gift for connecting with them. One thing everyone remembers about Larry was his smile. It wasn’t just something you saw—it was something you felt. You could see the pure and honest joy in his eyes, a reflection of the kindness in his heart and the genuine way he connected with people. That smile had a way of putting others at ease, making them feel welcomed, valued, and understood. Larry also had a passion that many of us smile about today—NASCAR. Race days brought him excitement and joy, and in a fitting way, racing mirrors the way Larry lived his life—with enthusiasm, perseverance, and heart. He loved the race, but more importantly, he loved sharing those moments with others. Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Larry truly lived these words. He fought the good fight through life’s challenges, he ran his race with integrity and love, and he kept the faith. Today, we take comfort in knowing that his race is complete—he has crossed the finish line victorious and is now a winner in heaven. Though we feel the ache of his absence today, we also feel gratitude. Gratitude for the years we had, the memories we made, and the love he gave so freely. Larry’s legacy lives on through his family, through the lessons he taught, and through the love that continues to bind us together. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gale Garrison; his children, Kurt and Danae Garrison; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his daughters, Gina and Jill. As we say goodbye, let us remember Larry not only with sorrow, but with appreciation for a life well lived—a life full of love, faith, connection, and moments that truly mattered. Thank you, Larry, for loving all of us so well.
