Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” Marcus Allen Davila was the first born to Ray and Jeanne Davila. Being first affords you the luxury of imparting your world based knowledge on your succeeding siblings, but the road to get there is bumpy and filled with the painful gradience of novelty and vexation. Marcus took that burden for his younger siblings Ross and Kathryn in strides, their adolescence was cushioned by their guardian. As a child Marcus was enrolled in karate with his brother, Shotokan, none of that fufu prissy Kung Fu stuff that was more flash then fury. He excelled in this, being the top of all students up til blackbelt, winning every tournament held by the dojo and many state, national and international tournaments as well. His youth was filled with the love of many relatives but the relationship he developed with his Nana was stronger than any other bond. His grandmother, Beverly Freitas, went as far as to buy extra turkey wings for thanksgiving, telling him she had cooked a mutant bird, knowing the wings were him and his his younger brothers favorite part of the feast, and she would always sneak him a wing before thanksgiving supper but probably out of pity for him and Ross’ impatient salivating over the banquet. His fondest memories of Nana were of fishing trips in Eagle lake with Grampa teaching him how to bait and gut a trout, skiing trips with the generations of relatives who had been a lake family since they were his age, and Christmas at Nana and Grampa’s where all our cousins, aunts and uncles would be there in that beautiful 70s styled home complete with gold speckled mirrors and live edge slab table. Junior high school came with the introduction of Marcus’ true love. Drums. It was here that he discovered his affinity for the music of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd among many other classic rock gods that would live through until the end. Above all his favorite drummers he admired John Bonham of Zeppelin, who hit his drums like he was trying to put a hole in the heads. His simplistic powerful but organically intuitive drum beats would be the mantra for his life long obsessions with power drumming. You can take that jazz stuff somewhere else, Marcus was going home with broken drumsticks and a ringing In his ear. Marcus also developed a knack for cooking, always ready to try out a recipe that others may have been too apprehensive or faint-hearted to tackle. Marcus was easy going and always able to make you laugh. Too his niece and nephew he was known as Uncle Cheese Man, and always had cheddar on tap for them. Marcus is survived by his parents Ramon and Jeanne Davila, siblings Ross Davila, Kat Davila Burlison, brother-in-law Carson Burlison nephew Jackson, niece Izabella. He will be deeply missed by countless relatives including Auntie Kat Freitas, Uncle Bruce Holthouse, Uncle Al Freitas, cousins: Zack and Caitlyn, Uncle Rod, Aunt Judy cousins: Nicky, Darren, Rhys Freitas, Mark, Matt and Renee Cardona, Uncle Scott and Aunt Tammy Freitas, cousins: Dylan and Logan, Uncle Mike Avalos, cousins: Andrea and Austin, Uncle Pete and Aunt Mary Ann Avalos, cousins: Mike and Jay, Uncle Dan, cousins: Danny and Catharine, Uncle Paul Avalos, cousins: Josh and Jay and Aunt Lisa, Uncle Tommy and Aunt Cynthia Hansen. He was beloved through out his life and will be sorely missed by his close friends Josh Brown, Jon Adams, Zack Simpson, Gina Rosetti and Angelica Fuentes as well as many others.
