Nicholace Romero was born on September 10, 1929, in Selma, California, along with her twin Mary, to Paulino and Refugio Padilla. She went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 95. She remained faithful to the Lord and died peacefully at her earthly home of sixty-eight years in Sanger. She married Wesley Gonzalez, June 4, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sanger. They had two daughters, Mary Jane in 1956 and Ruth in 1961. They were married until Wesley’s death in 1976. She continued to live in Sanger, worked at Del Rey Packing, and cared for her family. She met Phillip Romero of Madera, in 1978 and married on March 17, 1984. She was blessed with three stepchildren Bobby, David, and Dorie Romero. Everyone who knew Nickie, knew she loved gambling, and got to the casino at every opportunity. Her twin sister Mary, her sister-in-law Bertie Rusca, her nieces Clara and Frances, and her friend Dolores were her regular gambling buddies. On some occasions she would drag along her daughters. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over eighty years and will have her rosary and requiem mass there. Nickie will always be remembered for her kindness and the way she cared for others. Her gift was to make you feel you were her favorite. We will always imagine hearing her say, “If God is willing.” We could not have asked for a better mother, grandmother, aunt, or sister. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Nicholace is survived by her daughters Mary Jane Huss and her husband Dale, Ruth Anderson and her husband Bobby; her stepchildren Bobby Romero and his partner Kelly Boyle, David Romero, Dorie Lim and her husband Jet; her grandchildren, Elena and Marie Huss, Delaney Romero, and Austin and Aubrey Lim; great-granddaughter Madilynne Rose Huss; her siblings Mary Cardenas, Pete Padilla, and Toni Sanchez; and many adopted daughters, nieces, and nephews.
