Dr. Orlando Tadije Collado was born on January 21, 1944 in Pangasinan, Philippines and passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on April 4, 2017 in Fresno, California at the age of 73. Orly, as he was known by many, was raised in the Philippines. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas. He later came to the United States to complete his residency at Michigan State Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan and worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. Thereafter, Dr. Collado opened his private practice. He later work as the Medical Director for Tulare County Mental Health and prior to his retirement, he spent over 20 years at the Medical Director for Madera Behavioral Health Center. Orly had a devout adoration for his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and most recently at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Aside from his professional life, Dr. Collado was very active within several Filipino organizations having served in many positions within each group. He was past president and life member of the Filipino American Association of Fresno and Vicinity, past president and member of the Pilipino Progressive Club and many more. He enjoyed attending countless social events with his wife Dr. Josie Collado where they would dance the evenings away with their graceful dance steps. He is preceded in death by a sister, Alma Acosta. Orly will be missed by his loving wife, Dr. Josefina Collado; his children Didi Bonifacio and her husband Nilo of Hercules, CA, Pamela Collado-Shinn and her husband Richie of Fresno and Jay Collado and his wife Koko of Long Beach, CA; his grandchildren Peter, Ace, Mia, J.B., Alayna, Kyle, Tristan and Bodhi; a great grandchild, Maxwell; his siblings, Sonia Ferrer of Fairfield, CA, Ed Collado of Pacifica, CA, Virginia Tan of Houston, TX, Lilia Fabian of Castro Valley, CA, Aida Collado of Castro Valley, CA, Juliet Kalotkin of Pacifica, CA, Boyet Collado of Houston, TX and Ferdinand Collado of Houston, TX. Viewings will be held at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
