Tributes

Paula was born in Florence Arizona to Archer and Pansy Bartlett. She attended Columbia Christian College and the University of Arizona. Paula was introduced to her future husband Ed Darden at an officer’s club dance on post in Florence Arizona during WWII and were married in 1944. Following the war, Ed and Paula with their son Ed Darden III left Pocatello Idaho to move to Merced to begin Ed’s Architecture career. Three years later, with the addition of two daughters, they moved to Fresno California. Paula was active in the community and was an active member for over 65 years of First Presbyterian Church. Paula and Ed were charter members of San Joaquin Country Club where they made many dear friends. Paula was an avid Bridge player and spent many hours playing with lifelong friends. In 1956 Paula went back to school and obtained her teaching credential and began teaching in Clovis Unified School District. When she retired, she continued to read with children at Pinedale Elementary up into her 90’s. Ed and Paula were involved in dance club as they both loved this time together. Ed and Paula were able to travel all over the world. They felt very blessed with the many adventures they had together. Paula regularly visited many assisted living homes to call on friends and pray with them. When she was over 80, Paula handed out 60 bag lunches once a month to the homeless, filled by she and her grandson. It was a ministry she gladly started for the Lord. Paula made sure that every Holiday was fun for her whole family. Games, food and creative new happenings. Ed and Paula would take the whole family on surprise adventures to keep the unity of a Christian family. These included the desert of Arizona, a Beach house in southern California, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There was also a 4 day cruise to Mexico. We never knew what was next. These times together will not be forgotten. Paula is preceded in death by her husband Ed Darden II and Grandson Brian Morgan. Paula is survived by her son Ed Darden III and wife Jan Darden, daughter Judy Hulstrom and husband John Hulstrom, daughter Diane Morgan and husband Ed Morgan. Paula also has 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. We are grateful for Hinds Hospice and AAA 24/7 Caregivers for all their love and care with laughter that they gave to Paula.
