Rebecca 'Becky' Cruz Diaz was born to Jesus John Diaz and Maria Cruz Villa on January 25, 1957 in Fresno Ca. She was the fifth of six children, which included Jesus 'Jesse' Jr., Sergio, Rosemary, Ceasar, and the baby, Richard. She lived in and grew up in Highway City and attended Teague Elementary and Central High. She later attended Reedley College. She met and married Alfredo 'Freddy' Solis at the age of 18 and soon gave birth to their son, Freddy Solis, Jr. Two years later she gave birth to their daughter, Stephanie Marie. They made their home in Dinuba and their house became a hangout for the Eagles Bike Club. She took in and raised her nieces Evelyn and Danette Alonzo when their mother Rosemary passed away. Becky worked many jobs including McDonalds, Zacky Farms, Harris Ranch and Hanford Meat Co. She later worked as a receptionist for Pacific Pulmonary and then Lincare. She loved classic cars and together with her second husband, Luis Varela, they rebuilt two classic cars. Her Chevy 210 was her prized possession. She painted it her favorite tangerine orange and had her name 'tattooed' on the back bumper. During this time, she also raised her twin granddaughters, Ashley and Alyssa Gardner. In this phase of her life, her house became BBQ central. She had so many BBQs where everyone was welcome and were sure to have a good time. Becky was the definition of welcoming. Her mentality was always, "the more the merrier." throughout her life she took in the neighborhood kids and treated them as her own. Her house became the place where troubled kids had a sense of security and a sense of home. She took in so many kids, too many to name them all. Becky never met an animal that she didn't immediately love and want to keep. Throughout her life, she had so many dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, turtles and fish. She constantly joked with friends and family that she wanted to take their pets home too. She always had a smile and had an amazing energy which allowed her to make friends with anybody and everybody that crossed her path. It was easy to love her. She loved to cook and bake for her friends and family and everywhere she went, she was always having fun. She laughed so easily and whole heartedly, her laugh carried through every room she stepped in. She had such a youthful energy and could out-shop most people. She loved thrift stores and yard sales. Becky is survived by her son, Freddy Solis Jr and his wife Karina of Dinuba, CA, Her daughter Stephanie Solis and her husband, Jano Herrerra of Ventura, CA; Her grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa, Vanessa, Diego, Thiago and Ace. Great-grandchildren Ezra, Mia and Aria; Her brothers Jesse, Ceasar, Richard Diaz, her sister-in-law Mary Helen Diaz, and her dear cousin Pati Maciel. Becky passed away at 67 years old on Friday, August 16, 2024. Services will be held at Chapel of the Light on August 26, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest by her mother, father and sister at St. Peter's Cemetery in Fresno, CA. Visitation will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home with a Rosary at 11:30 and Funeral Liturgy to follow. Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
