Shirley Dolores (Heinrich) Wiser was born March 1, 1938, in Ames, Oklahoma, to Samuel Heinrich and Emma (Ehrlich) Heinrich and passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, Ted Dale Wiser, and her daughter Kimberly Wiser-Daggs, on Thursday, March 1, 2018, her 80th birthday, in Clovis, California. Shirley attended Ames High School in Ames, Oklahoma. For her college years, she attended Southwestern Junior College, (now Southwestern Adventist University) in Keene, Texas, graduating with the class of 1958. After graduation she moved to Bakersfield, California where she was a receptionist for doctors Bernard, Bernard and Fender. While in Bakersfield, she met the love of her life in Ted Dale Wiser. The two were married in Bakersfield on August 27, 1961. They had one daughter, Kimberly Rochelle Wiser-Daggs. In 1971 the couple moved to Ventura, California where Shirley was a stay at home mom with their daughter. She also played the piano and helped lead out in the cradle roll (birth to age 5) room at the Ventura Seventh Day Adventist church. Shirley and Ted moved to Watsonville, California in 1976 where Shirley completed her library science training and became the librarian at Virgil Hauselt Memorial Junior Academy until 1983. She then became the librarian at Watsonville High School and stayed with the Pajaro Valley Unified School district by transferring to the Curriculum Center where she processed all library books and textbooks for all the schools in the district. Shirley was always an avid reader and loved having a job that allowed her to read books all day! She instilled this love of reading to her daughter and would always buy her grandkids the latest children’s books. After the curriculum center closed, she worked her last two years as librarian at E.A. Hall Middle school in Watsonville until her retirement in 1993. They attended Watsonville Seventh Day Adventist church where Shirley continued to play the piano in the children’s classes, as well as serve as a greeter, church librarian and church clerk. Following retirement, Shirley enjoyed spending more time with her grandkids, reading, ceramics and cross stitch. Shirley and Ted moved to Clovis, California in 2001 to be closer to their daughter and grandkids. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Emma Heinrich; three brothers, Filmore Heinrich, Cletus Heinrich and Robert Heinrich; and a sister, Imojane Harris. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ted Dale Wiser, of Clovis, California; her daughter, Kimberly Wiser-Daggs of Fresno, California; two brothers, Gilmore “Pete” Heinrich of Ringwood, Oklahoma and Larry Heinrich of Billings, Oklahoma; one sister, Joyce Helmer of Barstow, California; 5 grandchildren, Terrence Shepherd, Alyssa Daggs, David Daggs, Donovan Daggs and Devin Daggs of Fresno, California; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. Shirley was a delightful lady with a beautiful smile. Ted always remarked how her laugh filled him with joy. Many others have commented on her kindness and the care she showed to others. She was a very devoted wife and mother. Shirley was always ready and willing to help those in need. A Celebration of Life for Shirley Dolores Wiser, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Sunnyside Seventh Day Adventist Church.
