Steven William Ring August 20, 1974 - June 3, 2025 Steve Ring was born in San Jose, California to Carol Franklin and Tom Ring Sr. He was raised by his mother Carol (Franklin) Coleman, and stepfather Kevin Coleman in Sanger CA, alongside his older brother Tom Ring Jr. After high school, Steve explored college courses before ultimately enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. As one of the top sharpshooters in his training unit, he served with pride and discipline as a Parachute Rigger-Flight Equipment Technician stationed at NAS Lemoore. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began working for BNSF Railway as a conductor and later as an engineer. Steve enjoyed driving trains and the mechanics of the job, but as a young dad, he valued time with his daughters above all. Seeking to be closer to home, he took the opportunity to join the Hanford Police Department after completing the police academy. After several years at Hanford PD, Steve returned to BNSF as a Special Agent and later advanced to Deputy Chief of Police. Known for his “lead from the front” mindset, Steve supported his team around the clock, earning their respect and numerous awards along the way. Most recently, Steve moved to Amtrak as a police officer. He enjoyed working in his new role and quickly earned the respect and admiration of his teammates and supervisors. Steve was a proud father to his three daughters: Madisen Leigh Gurrola, Katelyn Brianne Ring, and Ainsley Jane Ring. Though Katelyn passed away shortly after birth, she always held a special place in his heart. Madisen and Ainsley were the lights of his life. He found immense joy in becoming a grandfather to Madisen’s son, Lucas. In 2021, Steve met the love of his life, Stefanie Krause. They shared an easy, joyful connection. Their loving relationship blossomed and they married. They worked side by side on home projects, walked and rode bikes across Clovis and Fresno, spent time on the rivers and lakes, enjoyed traveling and exploring new places together, and supported each other in every aspect of their lives. They spent each day taking care of each other and loving each other completely. Steve was known for his practical skills, problem-solving nature, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. He lived a life of service, both professionally and personally. Steve Ring passed away on June 3, 2025, after an unexpected and swift illness. He was surrounded by family and friends who loved and admired him deeply. Steve was predeceased by his mom, Carol Coleman, stepdad, Kevin Coleman, father, Tom Ring, Sr., and daughter, Katelyn Brianne Ring. He is survived by his wife, Stefanie Jill Krause Ring, daughters, Madisen Leigh Gurrola and Ainsley Jane Ring, grandson, Lucas Santos Gurrola, stepchildren, Alexandra Daun Cota and Eric Antonio Cota, brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Ginger Ring, son-in-law, Jonathan Gurrola, and nieces and nephews, Jared Ring, Logan Ring, Chloe Montgomery, Spencer Hofmans, Lauren Jefferies, Nicholas Jefferies, and Ryder Sargent. He also has an extensive police and railroad “family” at Amtrak and BNSF. Steve’s Celebration of Life will take place on July 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Clovis Veteran’s Memorial, 808 4th Street, Clovis, California. If you are an officer or current military and are so inclined, feel free to attend in uniform. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation in Steve’s memory to Cen Cal Sports, a non-profit charitable organization that helps underprivileged children participate in sports. Steve was always happy to help a child in need, buying sports equipment anonymously for children whose families could not afford it, being part of Make a Wish Foundation, and purchasing Christmas gifts for nonprofit organizations to distribute to children.
