Suzie Cabrera

Suzie Cabrera February 11, 1936 – December 11, 2016 It is with great sadness and with much love and respect that we honor the passing of Suzie Cabrera…mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Born in Reedley, living all of her life in the Central Valley, Suzie was one of ten children born to Victoria and Jose Matias Cabrera. The Cabrera’s were a large family of seven boys Tony, Frank, Robert, Raul, Ernest, Joseph and Nicholas and two sisters, Mary and Margaret. Suzie had three children, her daughter Susan, her son Andrew who died in 1992, and her son John who passed away on May 29 of this year. She has been blessed with 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild who will continue her legacy. Suzie worked over 37 years at Clovis Community Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was devoted to her patients and gained a community of coworkers with whom she remained friends over the years. Following her retirement, she worked in the community with those that needed caregiving in their homes. She was known to give it her all, and to encourage and support in home patients. Suzie was 80 years old this year and continued to move in life with great joy and zeal. Over the past few years, Suzie joined her daughter Susan and her husband Paul Diaz in their home here in Fresno. She always talked about cooking for her family, taking care of her dog Toby and helping to create a loving family space. Family meant everything to Suzie, this is what she will be remembered for the most. Thank you to those who took care of Suzie over these difficult months. Each of you gave love during her most difficult time. I want to acknowledge Hines Hospice Care, Aunt Margaret, her friends who were with her weekly. In particular it is so important to recognize her daughter Susan, who took on a beautiful act of love of caring for her mother 24/7, her husband and his family for the unconditional love, and all of Aunt Suzie’s grandchildren for the constant visits and expressions of love for their grandmother. Thank everyone for all the prayers…every one matter and helped. Rest in Peace Tia. We love you!
