Maria Toquillas Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Por la mañana del 11 de julio del 2022, María Navor Toquillas, paso a la presencia del Señor. Sus memorias serán continuadas por sus dos hijos: Yazmin (embarazada con su primera nieta), y Octavio, yerno Imron, yerna Ailin, nieto Rocky, sus dos hermanas Elva y Berta, y muchos sobrinos, familiares y amigos. María ahora se reencuentra con su esposo, Erasmo Toquillas y su madre, Remedios Angulo. Tuvimos la bendición de compartir algunos de nuestros mejores recuerdos durante sus 79 años de vida. Entre ellos María emigró de México a los estados unidos en 1978 y se convirtió en ciudadana en 1999. Una vez que se convirtió en ciudadana estadounidense, se tomó muy en serio su derecho al voto y recordaba con frecuencia a su familia que votara en cada elección. María era una mujer de gran fe y asistía regularmente a la Iglesia Bautista Central. Durante el día, podrías encontrarla en la tienda de ropa "DD's Discounts" examinando los pasillos y cuando volvía a casa le encantaba mostrar sus compras más recientes. Aunque no era contadora pública, sabía cuánto costaba todo hasta el último centavo, incluso su amada "Chalupa Box" de Taco Bell por $5.44. Vamos a extrañar su preparación de nuestros platillos favoritos como las albóndigas, cóctel de camarones y los chiles rellenos entre muchos mas y se emocionaba al vernos disfrutar tanto de su cocina. Cuidaba apasionadamente de sus plantas y flores en casa. María te diría el nombre de todas las plantas y cómo las adquirió. Uno de sus pasatiempos era obtener flores durante caminatas o donde fuera que viera flores o plantas que aún no tenía y las plantaba en casa. Le encantaba compartir sus plantas con otros entusiastas de la horticultura, especialmente con sus hermanas. Durante festejos, ella era la que llamaba a la Lotería y tenía los mejores dichos para cada carta. Durante la Navidad participaba en el juego del “Elefante Blanco” con pasión y le encantaba tomar tu regalo, pero desdeñaba a cualquiera que tomara el suyo. Le encantaba tocar y cantar “Las Mañanitas” en cada cumpleaños. Siempre estaba lista para cualquier evento, nunca se quejaba de cuánto duraba ni de lo tarde que era. Si alguna vez padeció alguna dolencia ella siempre tenía un remedio casero para compartir. María tenía el corazón más maravilloso y generoso y nunca llegaba con las manos vacías. Siempre tenia algo que ofrecer. Sobre todas las cosas amaba a Dios y a su familia. Los momentos más felices fueron cuando visitaba a sus hermanas y su familia en Mexicali y San Diego, pero sobre todo pasando tiempo con sus hijos. La extrañaremos mucho y estará por siempre en nuestros corazones. English Maria Toquillas entered eternal life on Monday, July 11, 2022. Her spirit is carried on by her two children: Yazmin (pregnant with fist granddaughter), and Octavio, son-in-law Imron, daughter-in-law Ailin, grandson Rocky, sisters Elva and Berta along with many nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. Maria is reunited with her husband, Erasmo Toquillas and mother, Remedios Angulo. We were blessed to share some of our fondest memories during her 79 years of life, among them: Maria Toquillas immigrated from Mexico in 1978 and became a citizen in 1999. Once she became a US citizen she took her right to vote seriously and frequently reminded family to vote at every election. Maria was a woman of great faith and regularly attended service at Iglesia Bautista Central. During the day you might find Maria at “DD’s” perusing the aisles and would come home to show off her most recent shopping haul with you. Although she wasn’t a CPA, she knew how much everything cost down to the penny, even her beloved Taco Bell “Chalupa Box” and don’t even think about short changing her. We will dearly miss her cooking and in particular her albondiga soup, shrimp cocktail, and chile rellenos among other dishes. She enjoyed watching as you ate and savored her cooking. She passionately took care of her plants and flowers at home. Maria would tell you the name of all the plants and how she acquired them. She would pick flowers during walks, hikes, or where ever she saw flowers or a plant she didn’t already have and would plant them at home. She loved to share some of her plants with other horticulture enthusiasts, especially with her sisters. During the holidays she was the Loteria caller for the family and had the best rhymes for each card being called. She played “White Elephant” at Christmas with passion and loved to take your gift, but reviled anyone who took hers. She loved to play and sing “Las Mananitas” for you on your birthday. She was always up for any event, never complained how long it lasted and how late into the evening it went. If you ever suffered from any ailment she always had a home remedy to share with you. Maria had the most generous and giving heart and never arrived empty handed. She gave with joy and never expected anything in return. Most of all she loved God and her family. The happiest of times was when she was visiting with her sisters and extended family in Mexicali and San Diego, and especially spending time with her children. She will be dearly missed and will be forever in our hearts.
