Orlanda Alfarero Tayong Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Thursday, October 15th, 2020, Orlanda Alfarero Tayong passed away in Fresno, California, at the age of 77. Orlanda, also known as Orlie or Landa, was born to the late Arsenio and Margarita Alfarero on April 4, 1943, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. She was the eldest sibling of 16 children. In 1966, she completed her nursing degree with the pioneer class of Bohol Provincial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse in Canada and the United States for 25 years before she retired. She was introduced to her late husband, Virgilio Tayong, in the Philippines, but their courtship did not begin until they met again in Toronto, Canada. They were married on June 6, 1970, and moved to Fresno, California in 1981. Orlanda had a passion for cooking and meeting people. She was involved with the Fresno Filipino community, participating in many activities and fundraisers. She enjoyed hosting parties, sewing, crocheting and dancing. She was known for her leadership, compassionate spirit and being a devoted wife. Orlanda is survived by her children, James Neil of Las Vegas, NV; Marilyn Joy of Mission Viejo, CA; and Coreeliza Julie of Mission Viejo, CA. She has 6 grandchildren, James Neil Jr., Tylee Jade, Trystan James, Tyler Sy, Alexandra Joy and Aubree Luna. She is also survived by her siblings Regina Tanzo of Canada; Patricia Thomson of Canada; Legorio Alfarero of Canada; Guillerma Centino of Fresno, CA; Gemela Mahinay of Canada; Ansberta Edillo of Canada; Lucila Clerino of Philippines; Maria Gimmi Relampagos of Erie, PA; Mario Alfarero of Canada; Maximiliano Alfarero of Canada; Marcos Genju Alfarero of Canada; and Amado Alfarero of Canada. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Virgilio Paras Tayong on June 2, 2020 and her brothers Ferdinand Alfarero, Arsenio Alfarero Jr. and Cristobal Alfarero.
