January 5, 1934 - May 17, 2021
A Life Well Lived… Rosemary Verdugo was born the oldest of thirteen children on January 5, 1934. She was a lifelong resident of Fresno. In 1950 she married Doroteo Jimenez Sr. and raised their five children Yolanda, Patricia, Albert, Doroteo Jr. and Eddie. Rosemary was a strong role model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a natural caretaker and a hardworking individual. She loved watching her novellas and sports, especially football, where her favorite team was the 49ers. She loved the outdoors and working in the yard. Rosemary had “Green Thumb” and was very passionate about working with, growing and caring for plants and flowers. She was spontaneous and loved to travel, spend time on her brother, Able’s boat and attend family gatherings. She loved to listen to music and could dance the night away. She was a lively soul and loved to entertain. She brought joy and love to many lives and had the kindest soul. She had a laugh which was one of a kind, and a smile which was contagious. She always was there to help relatives and friends. She gave everything to her family and others and asked little in return. She was many things to many people, a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and loving friend, but above all, she was a beautiful, generous woman, with a heart of gold. Rosemary’s spirit will always be in our hearts. She is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by many. On May 17, 2021, Rosemary’s golden heart stopped beating and passed away peacefully, at the age of 87. Rosemary will always be remembered for her unconditional love and giving spirit. She was preceded in death by her mother, Aurora Martinez; father, Able Verdugo; brothers, Able, Fred and Bruno Verdugo, Marty and Michael Martinez; and sons, Albert and Eddie Jimenez. Rosemary is survived by her sisters and brothers; Irene, Marylou, Della, Lillian Virginia, Robert, Charles, and Edward. She will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Yolanda, Patricia and Doroteo Jr., and daughter in-law Diana, her twelve grandchildren; Lorraine, Yolanda, Richard, Anthony, Selena, Wendy, Ovidio, J.R., Monalisa, Christina, Albert and Phillip and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and acquaintances who will miss her dearly. A legacy, of which, she was extremely proud. They say that memories are golden, Well maybe that is true, But we never wanted memories, We only wanted you, Your life was love and labour, Your love for your family true, You did your best for all of us, We will always remember you. We set beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore, We did our duty to the end, ‘Til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away, And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay. Our lips cannot speak how we loved you, But God only knows how we miss you, In our home that is lonely today.
