Roy Barzilla Robinette
July 16, 1943 - December 28, 2020
Roy B. Robinette passed away December 28, 2020 after battling cancer for more than 20 years. He was 77 years old. Roy lived in Madera for 35 years and is remembered as a race car driver and race-team manager, a backcountry horseman and loving friend and family man. The oldest of four children, Roy was raised in Santa Barbara, CA, where he learned to sail with his father, racing yachts and sailing up and down the Pacific coast. As a young adult he discovered car racing and began a lifelong passion for the races, whether behind the wheel or under the hood. Roy worked for many years in the oil and nuclear power industries before moving to Madera where he worked for Bonander Featherlite Truck & Trailer. He served on the Chawanakee Unified School Board, belonged to the local Kiwanis chapter and became a well-known member of the racing community at Madera Speedway. Roy is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, his brother and two sisters, seven children and many grandchildren.
