    Victoriano Oliva Lopez

    December 23, 1951 - April 8, 2021

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Victoriano (Victor) Oliva Lopez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in-law, father in-law and friend. He passed away on Thursday, April 08, 2021 at the age of 69, in his hometown of Fresno, California after a courageous battle with a serious illness. He was born to Jose and Maximina Oliva in 1951 in Guanajuato, Mexico. He came to the United States of America in 1964 and attended Washington Union High School. He met the love of his life Maria Irene Oliva in 1971 in Malaga, California and they married in 1972. Together they had six children: Norma, Araceli, Victoriano Jr., Fernando, Francisco, and Alejandro. As a young man, he worked as a laborer in the construction, landscaping, and agriculture industries. His work ethic was surpassed by none as he worked with perseverance to provide and care for his family and loved ones. His natural green thumb and love for the outdoors led him to his passion for farming as a raisin and vegetable grower, from which he retired in 2010. He was a joyful person who saw the good in everyone and appreciated all things in life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and, in his garden, caring for his chili pepper plants, vegetables, fruit trees, and cilantro plants. He would enjoy making homemade salsa with the vegetables from his garden for his grandson Julian. He was a loving and proud grandfather to eight grandchildren. He enjoyed the time he spent with each one and they now carry on his beloved traits of honesty, compassion, kindness, generosity, and love of life. He enjoyed reading western novels and listening to music and watching films by Pedro Infante. His kind, loving, generous nature extended to many in the community and will be dearly missed. Victoriano is survived by his wife, Maria Irene; two daughters, Norma, and Araceli; four sons, Victoriano Jr., Fernando, Francisco, and Alejandro; six granddaughters, Brianna, Kristen, Sarah, Julie, Sofia, and Emily; two grandsons; Julian and Luke; four brothers, Antonio, Felipe, Alejandro, and Ignacio; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jose and Maximina; his sisters Julia and Florentina; and his two nephews, Ruben, and Jesus. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 pm at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Mary Claret on Tuesday, April 20 at 11:30 am with burial at Belmont Memorial Park.
