Irma C. Gaitan of Fresno born on February 9, 1942 to Paula and Luis Roman. She was born in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, Mexico. God liberated Irma from her pain and suffering on April 10, 2023. Beloved wife of Victor D. Gaitan for 54 years. Loving mother of Leticia Diaz (Tony), Valerie Castaneda (Eddie), Victor V. Gaitan Jr. (Dao). Cherished grandmother of Martin A. Diaz Jr., Victoria Martinez, Carolina Castaneda, Lorenzo Castaneda and Victor X. Gaitan Jr. Also survived by many family and friends. Proceeded in death was her step-father, Francisco Cisneroz, mother, Paula Cisneroz, brother, Sergio Roman, sister, Mary Cisneroz. In her youth, Irma worked as a field worker. The family opened El Castillo Mexican restaurant in Tracy, California. She cooked and worked as a waitress. On May 15, 1960 she was crowned Tracy’s Guadalupe Fiesta Queen. In 1965, she began her career in healthcare working at Tracy Community Memorial hospital as a Nursing Assistant. Irma met and married the love of her life, Victor D. Gaitan on November 30, 1968. Victor, Irma and daughter, Valerie moved to Fresno, California in 1973. She was employed as a Central Supply Technician at Valley Children’s Hospital in 1981. A devoted Catholic, praying daily her prayer cards, rosary and attending mass. Irma’s passion in life was being a mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. Her love for her pets, Chiquita and Kitty Kat was above and beyond. An avid fan of Elvis Presley. She collected memorabilia and enjoyed attending Jeremy “Elvis” Pearce shows with her daughter, Valerie. Irma’s Mexican cooking skills were phenomenal. She made delicious tacos, enchiladas, chili rellenos and during Christmas her mouth-watering tamales! Irma will be terribly missed by many. Her memories and legacy will live on. She was the matriarch and BIG ROCK of the Gaitan family. The family would like to thank her medical team at the CMC – Clovis Hospital, Telemetry Unit, Dr. Lwin and Dr. Kodama. Nursing staff; Mason Mathews, RN, Robert Putnam, RN, HSC, Joshua Chaplain, Meliza, RN for their great medical effort and work. Her nursing care was above and beyond.
