Johnny M. Flores

Johnny Medina Flores, age 72, of Fresno, California, crossed over to walk among his ancestors on July 22, 2026, following complications from pulmonary fibrosis onset by Covid. He was surrounded by loved ones as he began his journey to eternal rest. He was born on April 11, 1954, to John Flores and Dolores Medina. He grew up in Fresno, mostly in the Calwa neighborhood, attending Calwa Elementary, Sequoia Junior High, and McLane High School. He married Linda Bosquez in 1972, and together they had three children: Jaymes, Joaquin, and Celisa. They were married for over 30 years before their paths diverged. He spent his final years with his partner, Irene Padilla, by his side. Like many sons of the San Joaquin Valley, he spent his early working years in construction and agriculture before becoming a USDA inspector, a role he took great pride in and where he built many lasting friendships over his final twenty working years. Outside of work, he loved hosting family, traveling, and watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers with his grandchildren. Johnny connected easily with people from all walks of life, just as comfortable talking with the average Joe as with a CEO. He drew people in with his humor and won them over with his kindness and generous spirit. He will be missed. He is survived by his partner, Irene Padilla; his children, Jaymes and his wife Monique, Joaquin and his wife Kimberly, and his daughter Celisa; his grandchildren, Maricela, Eliseo, Isabella, and Simona Flores, Alejandro Gomez, Marcos, Santiago, and Fidel Flores; his great-grandchildren, Cooper and Mia Hedberg; and his last remaining full brother, Frank Flores; sisters Dolores “Baby” Plata, Terry Plata, Angie Plata, and brother Vincent Plata. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Flores and Dolores Medina; his brothers, Tommy, Charles "Monse," and Larry Flores, and David Plata; and his sister, Sally Plata. A viewing will take place at Chapel of the Light on August 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A mass will take place on August 14 at St. Anthony Claret Church at 10:00 a.m, followed by the burial at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery at approximately 11:30 am. A luncheon will take place at Fresno Masonic Center immediately after the burial (approximately 12:30 p.m.).
