Mr. Jose Luis Mariscal Navarro passed away on September 21, 2024, at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Teresa Dominguez-Mariscal, six children Maria Catalina, Juan Manuel, Sergio, Veronica, Janet, Vanessa, and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He is reunited with his eldest son Luis Armando Mariscal. Jose was born on March 25, 1948 in San Marcos, Jalisco Mexico to parents Catalina Navarro and Victor Mariscal. Sadly, at the age of 10 Jose lost his father leaving him to care for his ill mother. At that young age he found himself having to work collecting and selling firewood daily in order to be able to support himself and mother, and afford her daily medications. Although he had to quickly give up his childhood and, at times, with very limited resources he remained focusing on his priority, his mother. This cultivated the humble, loving, caring, compassionate, family man he would later become. In his adolescent years he developed a passion for training horses and bull riding. He would annually participate in bull riding competitions during his hometown Fiestas de San Marcos. During this time, he also met his wife and their love story began. Jose married his wife in 1968 and started a family shortly after. In 1972, now with a growing family, Jose and his wife found themselves wanting more for their children. Jose took the initiative and immigrated to the US in hopes of a better future. This is when he became a resident of Fresno, Ca. Shortly after his arrival he landed his first job as a cook. Although he was now in a foreign country that spoke a different language, he never let that become an obstacle for him. His hard work and dedication paid off in six short months he was proudly able to bring his wife and children along. Throughout the years he became a devoted family man to his wife and seven children. He taught his children to be humble, hardworking, united, and to love and support one another. And just as he did, we promise to follow in his footsteps and care for our mother just as he did his. This is his legacy to his children; we hope to make him proud. He will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever, until we are reunited again. If you would like to join his family in honoring his memory, a rosary and viewing will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday October 17,2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. 4636 W. Dakota Ave. Fresno, Ca 93722. With Recitation of the holy rosary at 6:00 pm Holy mass will be on held on Friday October 18,2024 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. With burial to follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery 264 N. Blythe Ave Fresno, Ca 93706
