Big Larry Larry Jackson Boyd, born July 16, 1949, in San Francisco, California, passed away October 14,2024. He was the son of James Boyd and Delores Jean Catlett and the second child of six. Larry attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where he excelled in track and field, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for sports. He worked as a diesel mechanic, starting with Viking Freight in 1981, which later became FedEx, and he retired in 2011. Larry’s ability to fix just about anything was natural and he was always willing to take a look “under the hood” for his friends and family. Larry enjoyed spending time with all his children Darryl, Larry Jr., Penny, Amanda, Leani and Whitney. He made sure all his children could read a map, change a tire, check the oil and fish. A true sports enthusiast, Larry had a special love for football “Go Niners!"— Tailgating to the games with friends and family at Candlestick Park. He could meet people and create friendships that would last a lifetime anywhere. He enjoyed taking his boat out day or night to see what was biting. He took his motor home anywhere the open road would take him. Larry was known for his sense of humor and storytelling, always ready to share a laugh or teach someone how to fish or fix anything. He looked forward to harvesting his fruit and vegetables from his gardens. Larry's warm heart and infectious laughter touched everyone who knew him. He was a devoted father, a loyal friend. His legacy will live on in the memories and stories shared by those who loved him. Larry found joy and companionship with his life partner and soulmate, Mary Ann Everett. They spent twenty-seven wonderful years traveling, enjoying game nights & dinners with friends, blending their families together with children and grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Boyd and Delores Jean Catlett, as well his sister Georgia Marie Tookes, his grandson Larry Antione Boyd, and niece Tracy Boyd, Cousins Angela Catlett and David Catlett, Aunts Betty Smith and Lois Griffith. Larry is survived by his children, Larry Jr.(Annette Boyd), Darryl, Penny, Amanda (Raf Jassen), Leani (Jerryell Taylor),and Whitney (TJ Johnson), along with his siblings, Jamar, Kathy (Courtney Brown), Robert Bolicx (Evelyn Boyd), Vickie , and 12 grandchildren, 7great-grandchildren and many friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
