Siran Bedoyan, a devoted wife, stepmother and aunt passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Fresno, California. She was 87 years old. Siran was born on May 15, 1938, in Aleppo, Syria, to Kevork and Azniv Ghazarian. Both Siran’s parents were survivors of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Siran received her education through the 8th grade in Syria and thereafter became a talented seamstress in Beirut, Lebanon. Escaping the Lebanese Civil War, Siran arrived in New York in 1974, joining her brother Sarkis Kurdi and his wife Sita. In the late 1970’s, Siran visited Fresno to see her beloved sister, Marie “Maro” Mekhitarian, and her husband Karnig (Johny). Once here, Maro encouraged Siran to stay in Fresno and apply for work in the Gottschalks Alterations Department. She did and, to her surprise, Gottschalks offered her a job on the spot. She was always very proud of the fact that Gottschalks saw the talent in her and gave her a job. She worked for Gottschalks until she retired. In January of 1986, Siran married Zakar Bedoyan, who had recently lost his wife to cancer, and they decided to start a new life together. For the next 39 years, Siran and Zakar enjoyed spending time with family, taking bus trips and visiting casinos, where Siran loved to play the slot machines. More often than not Siran would leave a “winner.” They also enjoyed eating at different restaurants and shopping at Fashion Fair Mall, where they would enjoy seeing friends and family. On October 24, 2025, Siran lost Zakar to dementia. Just three weeks later, Siran lost her own battle with dementia and joined Zakar in Heaven. Siran was preceded in death by her parents, Kevork and Azniv Ghazarian, brother, Sarkis Kurdi, and her sister Marie Mekhitarian. Siran is survived by her stepchildren: Hagop Bedoyan and his wife Jennifer, Alice Bedoyan, and Shant Bedoyan and his wife Naira Khachatryan, her niece, Talin Arisian and her husband, Arakel (and their children, Arman and Aren Arisian), her nephew Ara Mekhitarian and Karnig “Johny” Mekhitarian, her brother-in-law. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Masis Ararat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Siran's honor to Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church or to the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School, 108 N. Villa Avenue, Clovis, CA 93612.
